The BEST Vegan Ribs

This recipe was originally created by Vegan King’zz and there are renditions all over. We’ve been making it for a while now and have adjusted it to our preference. It is our absolute favourite.

Vegan Ribs

Cook Time 1 hour 15 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cans Jackfruit or Heart of Palm or Artichoke Hearts
  • 1 Package Vegan Meat- Beyond or Impossible 340 g
  • 3/4 Cup BBQ Sauce
  • 1 White Onion Chopped
  • 2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Liquid Smoke
  • 1 tsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Mustard Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
 

  • Drain and rinse the jackfruit and chopping it roughly.  
  • Mix the ingredients well (reserve a bit of BBQ sauce) and dump onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Press into a large oval shape and press a knife down- not all the way through, to make 'Ribs'. Brush on remaining BBQ sauce.
  • Bake at 375 for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Notes

We like to make it with baked potatoes (as we just toss them in the oven while the ribs are cooking) and baked beans- as they take about the same amount of time (in the instant pot).
